There’s something unshakable about Anthony Azekwoh. Maybe it’s the quiet confidence that runs through his words and visuals, or the way he turns myth and modern life into stories that feel both intimate and eternal. Whatever it is, it’s made him one of the most distinctive creative voices of his generation.

From the early days of posting digital art on Instagram to exhibitions that have redefined what African digital art can look like, Anthony has built a body of work that demands attention. He’s a storyteller, painter, and writer, but above all, a visionary.
His art, often steeped in folklore and symbolism, doesn’t just decorate walls; it challenges perception. Pieces like The Red Man, The Bridesmaid, one of his most viral and emotionally charged works, and his Masquerade series show how he reimagines African identity through colour, form, and emotion. Each piece feels like a conversation between history and the present, faith and doubt, myth and modernity.

Azekwoh’s work has also found a home in pop culture. He’s created album and single covers for artists such as Adekunle Gold, Blaqbonez, and Show Dem Camp, blending visual art and sound into cohesive storytelling. His digital style, bold, textured, and cinematic, has helped define a new aesthetic in Nigerian music’s visual identity.
His exhibitions reflect the same depth. In There Is A Country (2022), his debut solo show, he explored Nigeria’s history and trauma through haunting portraiture and layered symbolism. Later, in Unfolding States (2023), a group exhibition featuring contemporary African artists, he examined themes of identity and nationhood in the digitalage. He has also showcased at Art X Lagos, cementing his place in the continent’s new wave of digital artists.

And beyond the canvas, his short stories and novels, including Sins of My Father prove that his creativity has no fixed medium. Between writing, painting, and curating through Azekwoh Studios, he’s building a world where African art, culture, and innovation meet.
Anthony Azekwoh’s journey is a reminder that creativity isn’t just about talent — it’s about persistence, evolution, and audacity.
Can’t stop. Won’t stop. That’s Anthony Azekwoh — and his story is still being written.
