Renike Olusanya: Illustrating Identity, Designing Impact

Renike Olusanya is a Nigerian visual artist and illustrator whose work has consistently attracted attention for its expressive quality and thoughtful representation. Based in Lagos, she has carved a distinctive space within the creative community, telling stories that resonate through form, colour, and deliberate simplicity.

Her illustrations often centre on themes of identity and presence, and over the years this visual vocabulary has deepened and expanded. While her art initially gained traction for projects like book cover designs, Renike’s creative direction didn’t stop there; it evolved into something broader and more intentional.

One notable part of her evolution has been ShopBawsty, the fashion label she co-founded with Damilola Onosowobo. Crafted to serve fuller‑busted women with designs that prioritise fit and comfort, ShopBawsty reflects Renike’s commitment to representation, not just aesthetically but functionally. The brand has become known for its inclusive designs and for challenging conventional ideas about how fashion should serve different body types.

Renike’s creative practice also intersects with her sense of personal style. Unconstrained by trends, she has developed an approach to fashion that feels both intentional and personal. This fluidity in style echoes her artistic philosophy: stay curious, stay consistent, and let each choice be an extension of your own perspective.

Throughout her career, what might be most striking is her consistency; a refusal to stop refining her craft, exploring new ideas, and expanding what creative expression can look like. Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop isn’t just a phrase; it’s the sum of a process rooted in discipline, curiosity, and personal clarity.
